- This age created many new advances and discoveries.
- It began with the Europeans exploring by sea for trading partners, new goods, and new trade routes.
- Some explorers just set sail to explore and see the world, for adventure.
- Many explorers discovered new places that they would take over or tell their rulers about so they could take over or make deals with the people.
- Some famous explorers included; Christopher Columbus, Vasco Da Gama, Ferdinand Magellan, Marco Polo, and many more.
- Christopher Columbus was a explorer and navigator born on 1451 in Genoa, Italy.
- His first voyage was in 1476 into the Atlantic Ocean.
- His voyage to Asia in 1492 almost did not happen due to the lack of support and money but when he was about to give up, it was approved.
- About half of his voyages ended in disaster. For example, on his fourth voyage his ship rotted at the bottom and they spent a year in Jamaica until the ship was ready to sail again.
